In their trademark genre-fluid approach, the Munich based producer & DJ duo Schlachthofbronx shifts gear with their new single Cabin Fever again and dives deeper into their uptempo Rave past without leaving their soundsystem roots too far off. Basically they just switch their vehicles: Music not to play on a Soca Carnival float this time - but on a full on Rave truck at a techno parade. Thereby reflecting their wide sonic palette as well as their real life expertise of constantly exploring interesting new club hybrids (well, and playing on trucks).

Despite what you might deduce from the singles name, CABIN FEVER is not your usual “Corona tune”. This tune started out as a club tool before the pandemic and will hopefully be played long after clubs are open again. Nevertheless, it marks a focus shift for Schlachthofbronx: In their sonic coordinate system between Club & Rave music, their roots in all things Bass & Soundsystem and their constant drive to explore all these niches and evolving hybrid sound fields, Jakob and Bene switch things up a bit. After their two heavily Soca-influenced singles as well as their Dub 7” via ZamZam (all of them supported by community radios as well as by BBC Radio 1), the duo leans more into their Rave roots with CABIN FEVER - a move which was already foreshadowed with their recent THE RIDE mixtape, building a bridge to their more electronic side.

Now with CABIN FEVER, they joyously dip into the manic, frantic & savage side of their sound universe. On top of being a decent homage to Rave tunes from before the millennium, CABIN FEVER encapsulates both the all too common corona-tired state of mind as well as sweet memories of sweaty basements, thumping kickdrums and ecstatic bodies moving as one. With the full force of an uptempo 150 BPM “Rave Brett” (as ze Bavarians would say), a squirming, almost siren like lead synth and a few not-your-usual drops, this tune is a testament of hope in the idea of the Club & the Rave - and might send you deep into CABIN FEVER without making it too complicated or less fun.
